About the department

Since the year 1995 with the establishment of Hijli College, the Department of Bengali simultaneously emerged. Though Bengali was just taught as an elective subject for students pursuing general courses. Later at 2003 Bengali was endorsed and introduced as a subject on which students would be awarded Honours Degree by the approvers. Thirty was the approved intake capacity at the beginning which has now increased to seventy. Previous few years academic results has earned prestige for the Bengali Department. The Departments Folklore Museum which was set up in 2013 had enhanced learninh interest among the students. By the positive vision and efforts of the departmental faculties and esteemed solicitation of the Principal would surely be successful in maintaining the valour and standard the Bengali Department.
