About the department

The department of Physics began its voyage since 2001 in Hijli College. The department offers B.Sc. Honours and General programme in Physics under CBCS pattern following the curriculum of Vidyasagar University.At present there are one full time permanent faculty, one state aided college faculty and ten Prime Minister Research Fellows as visiting faculties in this department. The Honours students of this department performed very well in the university examinations since the inception of Honours programme in this department. Hijli College is acting as local chapter of NPTEL online certification programme launched by Ministry of Human Resource Development in different subjects. This department acts as mentors for those programmes and helps students to peruse those programmes. This department has sophisticated laboratory equipments as required by the syllabus. Apart from this, the department is equipped with research level equipments for project work of the students. The teachers of this department can deliver lecture with the help of projector and smart classroom facility. Internet, copy, scan, e-book facilities are available in the department to meet the requirement of the students.
