About the department

Swami Vivekananda, in his speeches and writings, emphasised the need for a proper study of Sanskrit, in which are enshrined our highest treasures of literature, religion and philosophy. The management introduced Sanskrit as a language course initially in 2007. The department of Sanskrit started its voyage in 2017 with the introduction of Bachelor of Arts in Sanskrit Honours Course.

Our Sanskrit department is a very unique one. We arranged educational tour for our student in every year. At present there are four faculty members in the department. Now a days the department offers B.A programme in Sanskrit, additional language Sanskrit for B.A Students.

Salient Features

Two courses are being taught since 2017 B.A honours in Sanskrit and B.A general in Sanskrit.

1. Medium of Instruction: Bengali and Sanskrit
2. Classroom Lectures strictly are following text books. It is mandatory for students to follow textbook in classroom.
3. Learning Devnagari Script is mandatory.
4. Co-curricular Activities like recitation, dance and staging drama in Sanskrit to develop oratory skill in the language side by side with writing skill.
5. Remedial classes for better assimilation of the subject.

Details of Future Developmental Activities:

1. To create the environment Sanskritic Culture in the Campus.
2. To Make Sanskrit and Shastra learning popular in the surrounding arears by offering Several Courses.
3. To Translate modern subjects and scientific text into Sanskrit and published them.
4. To take up projects to edit and published the rear and unpublished Sanskrit manuscript.
5. Preparation of reading materials for classic shastric text in simple standard Sanskrit.
